Born in the late 1990s. Grew up in a village in Kozhikode. After twelve years of formal schooling and another five years of study, I graduated with a Masters degree, majoring in English Studies with a minor in Development Studies from IIT-Madras (2015-2020).
In 2020, I joined IIT-Bombay to work on my doctoral dissertation.
In the meanwhile, I had interned at The Hindu and Orient BlackSwan, and worked for the Dean (International Relations) at IIT-M, where I copy-edited, proofread, created, and published texts.
I try to be sensitive about words, sentences, and paragraphs. I have edited/proofread/created texts both professionally and for my peers.
I try to read, write, watch, listen, and record. Sometimes I think that I do these things to become savarna. Sometimes I think I do it because I like it. Sometimes I think I do these things to know the world better. Sometimes I think I do this to be able to create something. Sometimes I think I do these things just for sheer pleasure and indulgence.
I am—a little—trained in the Tabla and comfortable playing similar percussion instruments. I have some grasp of Carnatic music (can identify ragas at times). I am a decent cook (I can make a Biriyani without looking at a recipe, roast veggies in an oven, bake a cake given the recipe) and I am bettering my techniques (tossing stuff in a wok, cooking with high heat). I believe I have decent knife skills (I use a claw grip and I can dice and julienne and cut leaves into a chiffonade etc.). I interact with technology (tinkered with an old X220 and a raspi; can solder wires together, never tried on a PCB), computers (customising workflows and troubleshooting stuff by myself and have used Gnu-Linux distros for a while), the internet (I know I can read paywalled stuff by looking at the page source, I am running this website on an unmanaged VPS with nginx and hugo, I am aware that privacy on the internet is something of a nonexistent entity), and other tools (such as taking apart the larger components of a bicycle and putting them back together; using pandoc, markdown, html, css, zotero etc.; make sense of python code and make simple python/bash scripts with AI/internet help; comfortable with CLI) with some degree of familiarity. I try to keep learning new skills (I have some sense of laying out text, basic idea of what changing the aperture/shutter speed/ISO does, I know not to use comic sans unironically, I manage my own VPS).
